about me

Hello, my name is Finn O’Farrell, I’m a 20 year old full time powerlifting coach and a competitive powerlifter.

As a quick recap of my powerlifting career so far, I competed in my first powerlifting competition in December 2022, and it went terribly and I was on the verge of quitting the sport and not competing at British nationals but I had a long think about it and decided to compete, which was the best decision I ever made. This spiralled into a British nationals win and becoming a powerlifter for team Great Britain.

I turned the passion I got from competing in the sport into starting a coaching brand to try and help others using my knowledge gained from my years of competing and years of self research and mentorship.

I started coaching in the middle of 2023, and since then I have coached over 50 clients, and coached clients through more than 30 competitions. And during this time I have been constantly learning and updating my knowledge constantly by 1-1 powerlifting coaching mentorship, self research, advanced biomechanics courses and more, and I plan to carry on pursuing education.

My coaching philosophy

My programming is science backed and evidence based, by using training history, evidenced backed guidelines and an AB testing method that uses trail and error to find the best program for the athlete. My coaching is very data driven, with every change being done for a specific reason for a specific outcome.

The technical aspects of lifting is a very high priority as part of my coaching, with biomechanics having a big influence on technique and form analysis. And this isn’t only just me giving verbal cues, but also visually performing the movement on call, or recording a video if more in depth detail is needed, to make sure the athlete fully understand the change, and the reason behind the change.

I also always have the clients enjoyment of training in mind when programming, as most of the time training is kept mostly the same once the “perfect” program has been found , some people may find this enjoyable some people may not, so I cater to the phycological needs of the athlete by making changes when needed to make sure keep enjoyment high, but in a way that progress is still being made.

And my goal as a coach is not only to help you progress but to make sure you are progressing as soon as possible, so not stalling on making changes, and getting changes done swiftly but not rushed.

Client competition recaps

  • Elliott flannery

“Before I was working with Finn my mental to training and competing was growing worse by the week, I contacted Finn and ever since I’ve enjoyed training and have felt a lot better about myself not just in the gym but as a person outside of the sport. He’s not only a coach but I consider him one of my best friends as he will always provide support if available whether it’s a bad training session or a bad time in general.

From nearly bombing competitions and struggling to match PR’s to being confident enough to attempt several regional and even a British record in the space of a few months, my total has skyrocketed from 550kg–650kg+ since April. It really doesn’t feel real, but I couldn’t have done it without Finn behind me.”

  • LUKE STRUCH

“I’ve been working with Finn for around 8 months now, and in that time, his coaching has helped me add nearly 125 kg to my total. When I first started with him, I was in the intermediate stage of lifting, hitting plateaus and not making the progress I once did.

Thanks to Finn’s programming, technical adjustments, and smart exercise selection, I’ve made consistent progress in every training block across all three lifts. Just as importantly, his approach has kept me injury free even while making massive gains.

Finn is a kind, supportive, and easy to work with coach, but he’s also not afraid to hold you accountable and push you when needed. I’d definitely recommend Finn to anyone serious about powerlifting or just looking to elevate their strength in the gym.”

  • TYLER HEATH

“Thanks to working with Finn over the past 17 months, my total has increased by over 100kg and I have made countless technical improvements. Finn has coached me to achieve 3 national level competitions (2 Bench Press Nationals and 1 BUCS) and handled me at each one, resulting in a bronze medal at Bench Nationals ’25. The constant feedback and availability for questions and advice allows me to focus exclusively on improving my training. Furthermore, the high level of personalisation and adaptability of the programming in that time has allowed me to consistently continue to progress and gives me confidence that we can work around any challenges that may appear.”

“Finn’s coaching has really benefited me as a person and an athlete, he has made me much more resilient and strong minded, while also contacting me daily to see how I am doing with my training and how I am mentally. He has also boosted my total a huge amount of 140kg in 6 months of coaching, from a 460kg total to 600kg.”

  • FINLEY FRASER

“From the very beginning, Finn has shown a remarkable ability to understand not just the technical aspects of lifting, but also the mental and emotional challenges I have faced as an athlete.

Thanks to Finn, I’ve gained not only strength but also confidence in myself. He makes every training session worth training, I now look forward to training every week. I am incredibly thankful for his guidance and mentorship, which has had a massive impact on my life in the gym and out of the gym. And this has taken me from a 70kg squat, 40kg bench and 140kg deadlift to a 130kg squat, 70kg bench and 180kg deadlift in under 4 months.”

  • joshua mcdermott

“Since joining Power Peak Finn has given me a lot of knowledge about strength training and the sport of powerlifting which has allowed me to excel fast getting me from a 440kg total to a 572.5kg total in under a year and being able to have someone there to help with training will make things much easier and less stressful and Finn does exactly that.”

  • PATRIK TUZKO

“I have had Finn as a coach for just over a year now and the amount of progress I have made with him is insane.

When I first started getting coached by him it was refreshing to have an actually good program to follow and a daily check up with him to improve on my technique of my lifts and track my progress. In the first 15 weeks of being his client I added over 20–30kg on all my lifts meaning going from ~400kg SBD total to just over 500kg at my first ever competition which he handled me at.

I’m so grateful with the amount of help and support Finn provided me in my powerlifting journey over the last year and I so glad I chose him to be my powerlifting coach. And I cannot recommend enough to anyone who’s just starting out with their powerlifting training or been doing for some time but is looking for an excellent coach to further improve their training. So from my experience, Finn is a good coach.”
